The government representative visits the group home that the Ministry of Health and Social Policy has given the association of Caravaca APCOM (25/11/2009)

The Government Delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, this morning visited the group home that the Ministry of Health and Social Policy of the Government of Spain has given to the Association of Parents of Disabled Occupational Center (APCOM) in Caravaca.

González Tovar explained that the Spanish Confederation of Organisations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (FEAPS), which is a member APCOM requested through a program of "Development and adaptation of mini residencies" under the income tax subsidy aid amounting to EUR 85,776.45 to occupy the floor above.

This aid was granted by the Ministry of Health and Social Policy, and last September 28, 2009 has authorized the donation of that group home APCOM Association.

In addition, the Government Delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, visited with the President of APCOM, Antonio Castillo, the facilities of Advanced Early Warning Center (CDIAT AVANZA) of this association that caters for 50 children from 0 to 16.

Among other services, are offered rehabilitation, speech therapy, physical therapy, social skills enhancement and reinforcement for special educational needs of children who require it.

Added to this is that the building that houses this center has in turn with the NOVA Private located on the first floor of the same and up to 10 people receiving comprehensive care professionals who serve their needs.

González Tovar explained that the Government of Spain is tipped at work to achieve equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, providing resources, support, training, and necessary professionals, among others, to enhance their personal development, emotional and they can have all the services that allow them to have a life of welfare.

Subsequently, the Government Delegate in Murcia has witnessed firsthand the work that disabled people develop in APCOM through occupational center that's second, established in 1984 and, currently, 5 workshops are taught occupational , and a professional induction program.

Specifically, they offer workshops as diverse as leather goods shop, bindery, Nursery-binding, manipulated shop, florist, and Pre-pruner.

As the professional initiation, all aimed at developing skills, habits and skills at work through them to enable them to have greater autonomy, self-esteem and emotional balance.
