Convert the Greenway on a path of pilgrimage to Caravaca de la Cruz is one of the big bets made by the Regional Government for the forthcoming Holy Year 2010.
This was announced today the director general of tourism infrastructure, Marina Garcia, during his visit to the old railway station and the hamlet of El Llano where it is planned to build two houses.
Marina Garcia, accompanied by the Councillor of Tourism of the Consistory Caravaqueño and manager of the Consortium of the Northwest Greenway, highlighted the investment of more than 4 million euros to bring the greenway and providing it with a network of shelters scattered throughout the different municipalities where it goes.
One of the shelters to be built in Caravaca be located in El Llano, a spot near the sources of the marquis, with an investment of 1,680,000 euros.
This new provision will have capacity for 200 people and has additional facilities such as lounge, cafeteria and kitchen.
The 30 rooms on two floors, have en-suite bathroom.
The second hostel is located in the building of the former passenger rail station, will have 30 seats and will be complemented by an adjoining building a kiosk and toilets for the pilgrims who complete the journey.
Among the actions referred to in the old train station, is the rehabilitation of another building to become a Center of Interpretation of Nature.
Moreover, remember that imminently going to start construction of a third shelter in the old schools of the district of La Almudema.
Other projects that have been approved is the adequacy and reforestation of the Greenway in the section between Cehegín and Caravaca with an investment of 97,000 euros.
