Note sent by the Municipal Group Socialist Caravaca:

On April 3, 1979, after the first democratic elections in June 1977 and the majority of the public endorsement of the Constitution of 1978, held its first municipal elections that paved the way for democratic normalization in Spain and the political structuring Spanish society, in the absence at that time to establish and standardize the current regional map.

Change and progress experienced in these years of democracy is largely due to work and the efforts of more than 300,000 mayors and councilors who have performed their duties over the past 30 years.

Also, for the support and confidence of a citizenry committed to the present and the future of their immediate environment either city, town or village.

However, progress is needed in the channels of participation and transparency, as well as the closeness to everyday problems, vital, immediate neighbors, which are most relevant to their aspirations and needs, so that citizens be consulted not just every four years, if not over them.

Therefore, the Municipal Group Socialist Caravaca believes that we should not miss the chance to celebrate the April 3, in our town, the 30th anniversary of the first municipal elections which is to celebrate the consolidation of the values that we all identify: dialogue, participation, tolerance, commitment, ...

In this regard we have presented an initiative to the council with a series of proposals for this event which we trust will be agreed and summarized in:

- Commemorate the April 3, and organize institutional events to celebrate the first democratic municipal elections in 1979.

- Distinguish between April 3 as "Open Day of the municipalities.

- Agree with all local groups of the consistory, a manifesto commemorating the city on April 3.

- To propose the name "April 3" to a square, park, street or city street in honor of the date of municipal elections of 1979.
