The OMIC promotes initiatives to inform consumer rights and promote responsible consumption (03/02/2016)

The City of Caravaca de la Cruz will be launched throughout this year several initiatives to inform citizens of their rights as consumers and users.

Specifically, from the Municipal Consumer Office (OMIC) was going to work with students in 3rd of ESO.

The aim of this educational campaign is "to instill the importance of responsible consumption", as highlighted by the councilman of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Gloria Gomez, during the presentation of the protocol for 2016 and the annual balance of the OMIC.

In addition, it will launch a campaign to join the Consumer Arbitration Board, as an agile and efficient to resolve disagreements economic or similar type that occur between consumers and entrepreneurs, businesses or professional system.

Another activity planned is the World Day of Consumer Rights, to be held on March 15, with trips to some of the caravaqueñas districts to provide briefings on contracts concluded away from business premises.

More than 2,773 citizens served in the OMIC

A total of 2,773 caravaqueños neighbors were treated at the OMIC in 2015, 211 more than in the previous year.

Specifically there have been 2312 inquiries and 461 complaints.

"These figures represent an increase of 8.23% over the previous year," said the mayor of Commerce, who said that 59% are resolved, 4% has been referred to the competent bodies to 14% Consumer Arbitration Board, 7% is pending mediation and 16% under submission to arbitration.

Of the total complaints, 93% were services, highlighting those related to electricity sector, mobile and fixed telephony, water and butane gas.

So, in recent months it has also been a marked increase in claims related to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) after noise generated as a result of the commissioning of 4G service.

Also from the OMIC highlight the figure of 23% of administrative procedures, this area year after year is hogging a number of attention, mainly consultations.
