Councillor for Social Welfare, Carmen Ruiz;

President of the Foundation "Solidarity and Reintegration," Thomas Zamora, and the director of Proyecto Hombre in the Region of Murcia, Asuncion Santos, have made this morning a balance of service provided in Caravaca de la Cruz in treatment and rehabilitation of drug addiction and other addictions.

The delegation Man Project is in the Municipal Center for Employment, Training and Equal Caravaca, this year has been given individual attention to 42 people, of which 23 started a group treatment program.

In addition, 33 families of those users, who are offered emotional support throughout the recovery, plus the tools and instruments that will allow them to collaborate in the process of their families were served.

Since 2006, the city of Caravaca de la Cruz and Project Man kept a collaboration agreement.

Among the many services provided, out-patient program, aimed at persons who have addiction problems, maintain a stable personal and family situation.

In this they have treated 157 people with problems related to cocaine, alcohol or pathological gambling, among others, from its inception.

The director of Proyecto Hombre, Asuncion Santos, said that "it is necessary to offer this type of treatment in the town given the ease of access to treatment significantly affects how the possibility that these people get to leave the addiction."

He also said that "for the treatment of such problems, it is important proximity, offer facilities for access to treatment for all those who need it."

Specific attention to adolescents

The Councillor for Social Welfare has informed that, in addition, Project Man develops in Caravaca de la Cruz a program for teenagers who have started consuming some substance, since it is offering a very personalized service to these young people and their families, providing parents with tools to deal with the potential conflict situations, help establish rules and boundaries, etc., in order to tackle the problems of the earlier consumption of these young people.
