The Department of Culture, through the Public Library, celebrated on Wednesday, April 23, the "World Book Day" with a tribute to Spanish Nobel laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez, coinciding with the centenary of the publication of his work "Platero y yo".
Scheduled activities will start at 18.00 in the auditorium of the Casa de la Cultura Emilio Sáez activities by children who attend the workshop Storytelling.
Then, at 19.00, will be the components of the Reading Club Library which pay homage to the universal work of Juan Ramón Jiménez esritor.
In addition, all users visiting the library Caravaca during Wednesday's session will be presented with a book and a bookmark.
"We hope this simple tribute to" Platero y yo ", a work for the general public as able to enrich people, serve to bring the public in general the great poetic prose of Juan Ramón Jiménez," remarked the Councillor for Culture and Tourism , M ª Pérez Cruz.
The mayor also recalled that the Municipal Library takes all year advocacy and promotion of reading, such as youth literature awards "Albacara", book clubs, children's storytelling workshops and monthly meetings with authors.
The World Book Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries around the world in order to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.
Internationally it is enacted by UNESCO since 1995. On World Book and Copyright, UNESCO invited to show their support to the book and all those who write and produce books.
This is a day to celebrate the book and the realization of human creativity and the desire to share ideas and knowledge, to inspire understanding and tolerance.
