The Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has launched the "School Garden" activity in the Municipal Nursery, in collaboration with the Forest Owners Association of Murcia (Profomur) and the Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (ISOL).
During the day yesterday, more than 150 students from schools "El Salvador", "La Santa Cruz" and "Consolation" participated in a guided tour of the site of the Fuentes del Marqués for plant species characteristics area.
Next, the students planted various types of vegetables in the fields of Municipal Nursery.
"This is an educational activity in which we show children how to create and maintaining an organic garden while we convey the importance of caring and valuing natural environments," said Councilwoman Environment and Youth, Maria Antonia Alvarez Jorquera.
Also, the area municipal official Environment recalled that the Murcia Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation is responsible for managing and maintaining the Municipal Nursery throughout the year, under a collaboration agreement with the City.
"This allows us to employ people who suffer from mental illness or substance abuse problems, which together with their monitors, immaculately maintained this space," said the mayor.
