Bureau against Gender Violence discusses protective measures for victims and prevention actions proposed (30/01/2014)

Representatives of the departments of Social Welfare, Education, Health and Youth and law enforcement bodies, the Court of First Instance and health services have met the Local Coordination Committee Against Gender Violence.

The table was chaired by the head of the Coordination Unit Violence Against Women of the Delegation of Government, Cristina García, and Councilwoman Women, Family and Social Development in the City of Caravaca, Carmen Ruiz.

The Local Board against Gender Violence, which convenes every six months, aims to promote policies at the municipal level to eradicate gender-based violence, improve early detection of cases, promote coordination of stakeholders, provide agile response to victims, provide protection for high risk victims and carry out awareness-raising activities among the population.

During yesterday's meeting, the responsible Care Center for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI) reported that during 2013 were attended to 74 new users and since the start up of the service has been provided psychological, legal assistance and social to 549 women.

Out of all attended last year, 41 are living in Caravaca, Cehegín 12, 13 in Calasparra, 3 in Moratalla, Mula 2, 2 and 1 in Nerpio Bullas.

"The aim of this body is that all stakeholders in the fight against gender violence work in a coordinated manner, so that a quick and effective response to victims and offered better every day in the field of prevention" in the words of Councillor Carmen Ruiz.

During the meeting, in addition to analyzing the data collected on cases of domestic violence, new measures of awareness, especially targeting the youth population of the schools in the county were studied.

Currently, the Center for Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI) is located at Training Center, Equality and Employment Diego Cortes Street, next to the garden of The Cejo.
