Caravaca reduces by 22% the rate of road accidents during 2012 (29/01/2013)

During the past year 2012 saw a decline of 22% in the rate of road accidents in Caravaca de la Cruz compared to 2011, as reported by the Councillor for Traffic Safety, Francisco Jiménez Juan Gate, on the balance of Local police activity that has done next to Chief, Jesus Fernandez Bolaño.

Moreover, it is noteworthy that in 2012 there was a significant increase in disciplinary cases of safety.

He has handled a total of 244 cases compared with 140 in 2011.

Most of them correspond to excesses in the opening hours of stores, by littering the streets, drug abuse and disturbed rest and coexistence of neighbors.

In total, over the past year made 4421 the local police interventions, demonstrating, according to Jimenez Door, "the new organizational structure of the Police has paid off, with a more effective and closer to the citizen."

In this sense, the Councillor for Public Safety recalled that since January last year the 47 police officers operate with a new structure formed by the group of Safety, Security Panel, group Villages and Environment Group Traffic and crowded.

"Changes in the Police have been directed to optimize human and material resources, to achieve greater efficiency and respond to new social needs," he underlined.

Meanwhile, the police chief reported that during the past year made a total of 46 arrests, of which 32 cases were related to public safety and 14 breath tests.

545 controls were also made to breath drivers, seat belt usage and documentation, 55% more than last year.

The council and the police chief have also referred to the training plan agents have participated in recent months and has covered various areas such as defense, criminal law framework, immobilization techniques or preventive checks.

Projects and activities for 2013

From the Department of Traffic and Public Safety have set for this year several priorities adopted, such as the development of a plan for preventing theft in trade and greater police presence on foot through the streets of the urban case.

Intensify prevention efforts against vandalism in street furniture, adherence to the Sustainable Mobility Compaña and building a driver education classroom to complete the new park facilities are other targets for 2013.
