The Feast of Barranda crews fulfills its XXXV edition on Sunday January 27 (18/01/2013)

The Oral Tradition Study Days, the Barranda Market Folk and country traditions are part of the program of the party

The Feast of the crews, declared of National Tourist Interest, gather on Sunday January 27 to eleven crews and pandas in the streets of Barranda.

Mayor Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, accompanied by the mayor of Culture, Maria Cruz Perez, and president of Aguilanderos Barranda, Carlos Salcedo, today unveiled the lineup of the festival, by Marina Campoy and the events planned within the framework of the Study Days on oral tradition, the Barranda Folk Traditions and Peasant Market, activities wrap up the Festival of crews.

The mayor, Domingo Aranda, wanted to make a call for participation in the Feast of the crews, "an event that in the past thirty-five years has been able to convey the rich heritage of traditional dance and music."

Also, Aranda said that "a year has been working with the Aguilanderos Barranda to overcome difficulties and keep the party going with the same quality and schedule."

For his part, Carlos Salcedo, who has said that they are the celebrations of commitment and solidarity, wanted to thank the support of all the partners and sponsors of the festival.

The program XXXV edition of the Feast of the crews, the scheme maintains the latest editions and will start with the Study Days on oral tradition, including several workshops and lectures and symposia during the 25th and 26th January .

The conference this year will focus on the study of fear linked to traditional culture.

The second market peasant traditions, promoted by the Department of Trade and Crafts and craftsman Paul Miñano, Barranda be in for Saturday 26 and Sunday 24.

The Feast of the crews will this year with the participation of Animeros of Caravaca de la Cruz, the Colla of Brials (Valencia), the Gang of Aledo (Murcia), the crews of the Cuesta de Gos (Aguilas, Murcia), the Calar Gang of Santa (Moratalla, Murcia), the Gang of Fuente Alamo (Murcia), the Gang Patiño (Murcia), the Gang Purias (Murcia), the verdiales "Los Romanes" (Málaga), the Round Los Llanos (Albacete) and Barranda Aguilanderos.

From 1979 to coincide with the feast of the Candelaria, patron Barranda, the last Sunday of January takes place the Feast of the crews, the day on which gather pandas, rounds and music crews southeastern Spanish oral tradition.

The party was declared of National Tourist Interest in January 2011 and has become one of the oldest cultural events of its kind and most important of all those made in Spain.
