Caravaca launched an action plan to reduce the incidence of absenteeism and dropout (16/01/2013)

The Department of Education of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has fostered the creation and implementation of the Municipal Plan for the Prevention, Control and Monitoring Truancy.

The program aims to develop social and educational activities in the child's environment, activities that will be financed by a grant of 8245 euros granted by the Department of Education, Employment and the Consistory caravaqueño.

The plan addresses the issue from different perspectives absenteeism and school failure.

"We have set several blocks of action, including support resources and guidance to families, direct care cases detected and sensitization and awareness campaigns aimed at the whole of society", said today the mayor of Education, Carmen Ruiz, who emphasized that the ultimate goal of this plan is to work in a coordinated manner and carry out actions to achieve socio regular attendance and the total enrollment of all students in compulsory education.

The Councillor of Education has indicated that details of truancy in public and private schools of Caravaca de la Cruz are not alarming, but the objective is to minimize the cases of truancy and drop classes.

Truancy begins as an educational problem, but it can become the medium to long term social problem at risk of exclusion for the child.

The Municipal Plan for the Prevention, Control and Monitoring Truancy was presented today in the city of Caravaca de la Cruz by the Councillor for Education, Carmen Ruiz, Professor IES Guidance San Juan, Francisco Javier García, educators and social Association "Educa-more", M ª Dolores Salcedo and Encarna Peñalver.
