Students of the University of Murcia caravaqueño investigate the site of The Villaricos (10/01/2013)

Students of the University of Murcia, led by Professor Sebastian F.

Ramallo and by local archaeologist, Francisco Brotóns, are campaigning archaeological survey at the site The Villaricos, located on Caves Historic Site The Incarnation.

This is the fifth year that students in the Master's Degree in Applied Archaeology, Professional Management and Research Strategies Archeological develop their internship in this enclave.

Over fifteen days students learn how to run an archaeological survey project in the vicinity of one of the great archaeological sites of Caravaca.

Completion of fieldwork, the Archaeological Museum of La Soledad made available to students all human and material resources to enable them to develop their own research projects from foreground field.

The Villaricos is a town with several centuries of occupation, as is clear from the documented ceramic surface, offering a dating ranging from the V century BC to the eleventh century AD As urban development has great late Republican era Roman era , seeing its population immersed in the serious political and military convulsions caused by the civil war between the sons of Pompey the Great and Julius Caesar in the mid-first century BC, which safely conditioned its future urban development and its role in the exploitation of the territory of the upper reaches of rivers and Quípar Argos.
