Caravaca de la Cruz is suffering in recent weeks repeated thefts of copper wire and other metal materials installed public roads, gardens and industrial areas of the municipality.

Although local police have foiled several of these thefts, seizing some of the stolen items, the city of Caravaca calls for the cooperation of citizens to report any suspicious movement in the town or in the villages.

Cavila Industrial Estate, the hermitage of La Reja, the ravine of St. Jerome or the garden of the old cemetery were the places where there have been thefts and vandalism highlights, affecting copper cable, boxes and luminaries street lighting network, grilles and alcorques storm evacuation of trees.

The City Council has taken several steps to try to mitigate the damage and consequences of these acts, as the gradual replacement of the metal boxes by concrete or PVC and intensified surveillance efforts by local police officers.
