The Youth Council of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz has launched an awareness campaign against drinking in minors.
This initiative, promoted with the slogan "Let a zero alcohol in children", is aimed both at students of institutes and associations of parents.
"Studies warn that the age at onset of alcohol use is declining, currently set at 13. At this age, alcohol is very harmful effects on brain development, particularly affecting memory capacity and other aspects of development ", as reported by the Councillor for Youth, Maria Antonia Alvarez, at the launch of the campaign.
The council stressed that "the goal is to raise awareness and provide information to children and also parents and educators through lectures, workshops and distribution of informational materials."
The campaign is related to the Municipal Drug Addiction Plan of the City of Caravaca.
This initiative adds to others that are already underway such as the "Healthy Travel" to combat smoking among youth in the municipality.
The Department of Youth, in collaboration with medical staff, will provide lectures and group dynamics in secondary schools about the negative consequences of alcohol consumption and healthy leisure alternatives.
In addition, you will be working with the Associations of Parents and youth groups with the implementation of workshops that will encourage the way of education in the prevention of alcohol consumption.
