Caravaca opens a residence and day care center to serve 72 people in situation of severe dependence (28/02/2011)

The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, accompanied by the mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, and the Minister of Social Policy, Joaquín Bascuñana, inaugurated this afternoon the residence and day center for people dependent on the place "El Snowflake."

The new building, financed by the Autonomous Community and the City of Caravaca with EUR 2,360,848, is prepared to provide comprehensive care to 72 people living in severe functional dependence.

The building, built next to the occupational center facilities Apcom, comprises an area of about three thousand square meters.

On the ground floor is located the day care center with a living room, 4 breakout rooms for physiotherapy, 2 rooms for leisure and relaxation, 4 bathrooms and 7 offices.

On the first floor is the residence with 24 bedrooms and 2 singles, 4 toilets, storage rooms and video surveillance.

The second floor has a room for rest and relaxation and a large terrace where users of the residence and the day care center can do outdoor activities.

The residence and day center, managed by the association Apcom have capacity for 72 users and are equipped with all necessary services to provide comprehensive care to people considered high-dependency.

Murciano Institute of Social Action and the city of Caravaca de la Cruz will sign an agreement whereby the Consistory receive a total of 499,228 euros for the provision of residential services and day center for people with intellectual disabilities.

The recipients will receive full attention in your room and board in the development of programs and activities.

The residence also offers the user programs of basic activities of daily living necessary to improve their self-care and promote personal autonomy.

It also will feature health and social care and therapeutic services.
