The works which the council is running on the Market Square and was intended to modernize and give new uses for this space, pass through its final stage and are expected to be completed during the month of March.
The Councillor for Finance, Salvador Gomez, who has visited this morning the work with the Selectmen and Mercedes López Amador Vélez, explained that "the objective of this initiative is to restore public this central space, adapting to changing times."
The project, implemented by the company caravaqueña Framasa, is funded by the City Council and the Government of the Autonomous Region with a budget of 250,000 euros.
The works involve the creation of a covered market, adapted for holding social and cultural activities during any time of year, although we have tried to keep the essence of the place commercial outlets for small retailers and spaces for citizen services and other services.
The multiple use zone is conceived as a central space of 400 square meters which will be activities such as children's theater or temporary exhibitions, and citizens can enjoy free Internet connection via Wi-Fi.
In addition, spaces are reserved for café-bar, five retail outlets, office support and information to city and headquarters of the Association of Dealers in Caravaca.
