The Directorate General of Public Health, in collaboration with the city of Caravaca de la Cruz and the Spanish Association Against Cancer, today launched the program to prevent breast cancer.
The councilman of Health, Mercedes Velez, has reported that a total of 2,268 women, have been reported from the mobile unit next to the Health Center to undergo in the coming weeks to a mammogram.
Mercedes Velez said that all women, aged between 50 and 69 years who have not received the letter of summons and have not been subjected to radiography for the past two years, should contact your nearest or health clinic.
"Breast cancer is most common in women and the best prevention is early diagnosis. Therefore, I encourage all women in the county, with ages of risk, to participate in this campaign is to detect cancer and to when treatment can be cured, "he stressed.
During the 2008/2009 biennium the participation rate in the town of Caravaca in the campaign of prevention of breast cancer was 69.2%, very similar to that obtained in the whole region of Murcia which is set at 69.1%.
The mobile unit, equipped with the necessary equipment to perform the breast X-rays, will remain at Caravaca from today, February 7 until March 8.
Women who reside outside the village have a free bus that moves to the Health Center prior contact with your doctor or nurse.
