IES San Juan de la Cruz holds a collective exhibition with former students of the Bachelor of Arts on the occasion of its 50th anniversary (11/04/2018)

With an art exhibition organized with the collaboration of the Department of Culture and Education of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, the Caravan Institute 'San Juan de la Cruz' continues with the commemorative activities of its fiftieth anniversary.

The cloister of the old convent of the Carmelite Mothers is the place chosen to host this collective exhibition of painting, sculpture and photography, entitled 'Confluences'.

It is composed of works of different styles and techniques made by artists who have been studying since 2001 the Bachelor of Arts in the IES San Juan de la Cruz.

Pedro Abellán, Rocío Caballero, María Caparrós, Esther Carrascal, Ana del Amor, Bego Fernández, Marta Fernández, Elena Llamas, Pedro López, Ester Niñirola and Teresa Rico participate in the exhibition.

The opening ceremony counted with the interventions of the councilors of Culture, Óscar Martínez, and Education, Esther Poveda, as well as the director of the San Juan Institute, Isidro de la Ossa, and the Plastic Arts professor in charge of coordinating the exhibition, José Coast.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until April 22, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

During the current academic year, the IES San Juan de la Cruz celebrates its half century of existence with different initiatives, such as a Cultural Week, formed by a music festival in which students, professors and former students participated and lectures given by ancient students who have excelled in fields such as sports, science, medicine, arts or letters, among other activities.

In Juan de la Cruz, more than 650 students are currently studying (402 of ESO and 264 of Bachillerato) and 68 professors work.

Since the 2001/2002 academic year, the center has participated in bilingual programs on an experimental basis.

In addition, he teaches the Bachelor of Research and is attached to other programs such as 'Cantemus' and 'Corresponsales Juveniles', among others.

Likewise, the IES San Juan de la Cruz is one of the few centers in the Region that provides the 'BachiBac', a program that reinforces the knowledge of French language and culture of the students.

The educational offer is completed with Compulsory Secondary Education and the baccalaureates of Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Arts, Research and Distance Baccalaureate.
