The deputies, accompanied by the popular councilors of Caravaca José Francisco García, Ana Belén Martínez and Huertas Amador Mulero, held a meeting with the president of the National Association of Sheep Breeders Segureño (ANCOS), José Puntas, and subsequently visited the School of Pastors of Archivel.

The deputy Jesus Cano said that "we want to promote the lamb Segureño inside and outside the region, because its production encompasses an area that brings together several provinces such as Murcia, Jaen, Granada and Albacete, putting in value the Protected Geographical Indication that sustains it" .

"These breeders are going through a bad time because the rains are very scarce, but with determination and sacrifice they carry out quality productions that we want to protect", explained the popular deputy, who has listened to the demands of the ranchers.

"From the Popular Party we are on the street listening to the problems of the people, the economic sectors, the professionals, to take them to the regional Parliament and try to solve them," he added.

For his part, José Puntas has stated that some of the problems that beset the sector of extensive livestock are the lack of rain, the generational change, marketing or bureaucracy.

"The segureño lamb, with its PGI, can be a way to settle the population in the villages with a decent livelihood, and the motion presented is a tool that comes to help the sector," explained the president of ANCOS.
