With this contest, the Department of Culture pays homage to the caravaqueño artist, chamber painter of Isabel II, considered one of the great portraitists of the XIX century
Francisco Caniles won the first prize of the outdoor painting contest 'Rafael Tejeo', organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca, with a work that reflected a view of the Calle Mayor, with the church of El Salvador in the background.
The runner-up of the second edition of the contest was for Alberto Márquez, with an abstract panoramic of Caravaca, and the prize of the Child category fell to Ainhoa ​​Puerta, who chose the place of Las Fuentes del Marqués as the theme of his painting.
The works that have participated in the contest will be exhibited at Museo Carrilero, from 6 to 17 November.
The contest, which took place last Saturday, brought together a group of artists, who enjoyed a day dedicated to painting, drawing in their respective works landscapes and themes related to Caravaca de la Cruz, under a free style and technique.
The day ended with the jury decision, which was composed of the councilman of Culture, Óscar Martínez, and the painters Ana María Vacas and Gloria López.
The first prize was endowed with 1,000 euros and a second prize of the jury of 250 euros.
For its part, the Children category was awarded with school material valued at 200 euros.
The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz started last year this contest, with which it pays tribute to the caravaqueño artist Rafael Tejeo, camera painter of Isabel II, considered one of the great portraitists of the first half of the XIX century.
