The sounds of jazz and bossa nova open this Saturday the cycle of concerts 'To the moon of Barranda' (03/08/2017)

With jazz and bossa nova, the concert program 'A la luna de Barranda' is being held this Saturday, August 5, at the Museum of Ethnic Music in Barranda.

'Fictoria Quartet', one of the bands with the most solera and trajectory of the panorama of the Murcian jazz, will be in charge of opening this cycle, organized by the Department of Culture of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz.

The second of the concerts will be on August 12, by the artist Carla Pires, consecrated voice of the new fado, considered one of the best Portuguese singers of fado today.

Pires is part of the traditional fado and then add bold and innovative concepts that give your songs a contemporary touch.

The singer already has a record of about 350 concerts, performed in 21 countries on four continents, passing through many emblematic and prestigious rooms on the world stage.

On Saturday 19th August, flamenco will be the main character in the music museum's courtyard, with guitarist Vasco Hernández, one of the most promising talents of the new flamenco guitar.

Its composition, which combines a wide range of rhythms, melts with a melodic sense that results in a composite of clean sounds and the most characteristic aggressiveness of the flamenco guitar.

Vasco Hernández has given concerts in different European cities, among which we can highlight those celebrated during tours in Switzerland and Greece and the opening of the Flamenco Festival of Setúbal in Portugal.

The Murcia group of flolk 'Túa' will be in charge of closing the cycle of concerts 'To the moon of Barranda' Saturday 26 of August.

The formation has a wide repertoire of traditional music, playing songs of Irish root, Galician, Asturian, Scottish and Breton and also incorporating songs of own composition.

His influences are very varied, from Luar na Lubre, Milladoiro, Carlos Núñez and Berrogu¨etto to The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Solas, and Alan Stivell.

Recently the group has released their first album, 'Coordinates: North-South'.

All concerts will be held in the courtyard of the Museum of Ethnic Music-Blanco Fadol Collection, at 10:30 pm, with free admission until capacity is completed.

The Museum of Ethnic Music, which houses the collection of instruments by musicologist Carlos Blanco Fadol, received during the first half of 2017 a total of 6,971 tickets, 750 visitors more than the same period of the previous year.

In the Museum of Music, located in the Caribbean village of Barranda, the visitor finds a sample of the musical culture of about 150 countries, as well as music, stories and legends from the 3rd century BC to the 20th century.

Among the elements exposed are the recovered pieces Blanco Fadol, already missing in their places of origin.

The museum also offers a section that pays homage to Barranda and its Cuadrillas Festival, declared of National Tourist Interest.
