About 1,500 people have visited the exhibition 'Signum.

The glory of the Renaissance in the Kingdom of Murcia ', which houses the old church of the Company of Jesus de Caravaca de la Cruz, on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2017.

The exhibition, which gathers more than 65 works from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, has modified its visiting hours, remaining open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11.00 to 14.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00 hours, and on Sundays from 11.00 to 14.00 hours.

The last addition to this exhibition - organized by the Camino de la Cruz Foundation, in collaboration with the Caravaca de la Cruz City Council and the Autonomous Community - has been the ostensory of the Santísima and Vera Cruz, a 16th century piece with baroque modifications that Originally donated by Pedro Fajardo, first Marquis of the Vélez, and that today belongs to the Museum and Basilica of the True Cross.

'Signum.

The glory of the Renaissance in the Kingdom of Murcia 'aims to position itself among the major cultural events of the season at national level, both for its artistic and historical importance as for its uniqueness, being the first time that this period is tackled in a monographic way centered In a specific territory.

The exhibition allows us to understand the key role played by Caravaca de la Cruz and the Region of Murcia as a whole in the Spanish Renaissance.

It is composed of paintings, sculptures, fabrics, pieces of goldsmithery and architecture and texts.

Among them are two sculptures of the unpublished patio and the well of the patio of Vélez Blanco, which was sold, dismantled and taken to the Metropolitan Museum of New York.

Also 'La Sagrada Familia', by Pedro Fernández de Murcia, master of the Renaissance in Italy, friend of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, recognized as Murcia in 1984. The visitor can also enjoy the Christ of Don Juan of Austria, ivory carving Anonymous donated to the church of Santa María de Cartagena;

The altarpiece of San Nicolás de Cehegín, by Alonso de Monreal;

Part of the library of Bishop Almeyda, with first editions of Durer, Vasari or Matteo de 'Pasti;

The fabrics of Lorca, and unpublished masterpieces, such as the Piedad de Juan de Vitoria.

The tables of the painter Hernando de Llanos, who tell the story of the 'Apparition of the Holy and Vera Cruz de Caravaca', have become the centerpiece of the exhibition 'Signum'.

These works of the sixteenth century have undergone a thorough restoration process in recent months, thanks to the patronage of the Banco Santander Foundation.
