The municipalities of the Rural Development Network of the Region of Murcia will have 18 million of the 'Leader' strategy (25/07/2017)

The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz and president of the Rural Development Network of the Region of Murcia, José Moreno, signed a collaboration agreement with the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Region of Murcia, Francisco Jódar, to The development of the 'Leader 2014-2020' program, within the Participatory Local Development Strategy.

The agreement, which was also signed by the four representatives of the Local Action Groups (LAGs) operating in the Community, includes projects totaling € 18 million, mainly aimed at job creation, innovation in Public services and improve the quality of life of rural residents.

All these actions are promoted through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

Each Local Action group developed a Participatory Local Development Strategy, reflecting the needs, opportunities and strengths of each territory to achieve the objectives set out in the Rural Development Program and the LEADER initiative.

The agreements have been signed with the Northwest Integral Group (Integral, Society for Rural Development);

Grupo Nordeste (Association for the Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia);

Grupo Vega del Segura (Association for the Integrated Rural Development of the Municipalities of Vega del Segura) and the Campoder Group (Association for the Integral Development of the Campo de Cartagena).

The total amount of the agreements is 5,847,008 euros for the Integral Association;

3,943,411 euros for the Association for the regional development of the Northeast of the Region;

4,524,544 euros for the Campoder Association, and 3,969,309 euros for the Vega del Segura Association.

Projects under the Leader 2014-2010 program must make efficient use of the natural resources of the environment and contribute to the recovery and preservation of cultural, historical, architectural and environmental heritage.

It also plans to improve the attractiveness and services available in rural areas, and this will continue to promote the development of local basic infrastructure and services in rural areas, including leisure and culture, village rehabilitation and activities aimed at restoring and Improve the cultural and natural heritage of rural villages and landscapes.

Rural Development Network of the Region of Murcia

The Rural Development Network of the Region of Murcia was created last March to bring together the four local action groups of the Region.

The objective of this network, which during its first years of operation is presided over by the mayor, José Moreno, is to promote and promote projects related to the local and rural development of the four associated territories, as well as to improve the management and coordination of Groups that compose it.

Among the actions being carried out are collaboration agreements with regional and national administrations, as well as with other public and private entities, to take advantage of the potential of the rural environment.
