Connect with nature (19/06/2017)

Last June 5, we celebrated, as every year since 1972, the World Environment Day.

This day, we emphasize how important it is to protect our environment, but I wonder if we need to remind ourselves of this important task?

From a very small I was worried about what was around, a flower trampled, an abandoned puppy ... Over the years, I questioned each of the actions that humans did and that impacted our territory.

When I had to choose what to study and what I was going to dedicate, I decided to study Environmental Sciences, it was a new career at that time.

I doubted Biology or Veterinary, but finally I decided for everything, because yes, the Environment encompasses everything.

The Environment worries me and removes me more than any other issue, why have we come to a situation in which the human being is believed with the right to take everything that pleases us on Earth?

The answer is very simple, because we have the ability to think and do, ultimately, because we can.

The rest of living beings of the planet, vegetal and animal, are limited to survive.

Increasingly, this continuous struggle for survival has to be carried out with the human being as the dominant, master and master of everything, for his ability to think and to make those changes he deems appropriate, in some cases suitable for anything but nature .

I ask myself another question, if we can, why do not we reflect and become aware that with small gestures or modifications in our daily habits we can reduce our footprint on Earth?

At the global level, policies and working together to protect the ozone layer, protect oceans and seas, forests, soils and biodiversity, avoid desertification and destruction of habitats, combat climate change, Renewable energies, manage the water for a fair distribution, as well as for its conservation avoiding its overexploitation.

There are many gestures that we can do on an individual level: the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle, use less plastic, waste less food, respect our environment, reduce water and light expenditure, use the car as little as possible ... These are Some gestures, but there may be many others, the important thing is that we become aware that our passage through the Earth has to be as sustainable and respectful as possible.

There is a lot to do locally.

All these small gestures have to be made known through campaigns of awareness and awareness in our locality.

That trampled flower that worried me when I was little ... now I am worried about the neglect in which the green spaces of our municipality are, they are accusing water lack, the furniture is deteriorated, the grass and bushes are not well cared for and grow At their ease with the danger that this entails of plagues and fires.

We are responsible for caring for our environment and in this case the responsible for the Environment is the City of Caravaca, which has to put the batteries for this to reverse, so that we know what are the daily sustainable habits we can do and so Our green spaces are in perfect condition.

So we will feel that we are being careful with the Environment and who visits the parks of Caravaca and its districts, Las Fuentes del Marqués, Las Tosquillas de Barranda, La Muralla and Ojos de Archivel and many other green spaces can appreciate more its beauty, Them and therefore connect with Nature.

Because of that, it is about connecting with Nature and being aware that we are an integral part of it, that we depend on the Earth to live, it gives us the supply of natural water without which there would be no life and she offers us her soils Fertile to produce the food we eat day by day, so generous and so respectful that the Earth is with us, I question the last question: will we be able to be equally generous and respectful of it?
