The Department of Culture awards the prizes of the juvenile literary contest 'Albacara' (15/12/2016)

Coinciding with the day of San Juan de la Cruz, patron saint of Spanish-speaking poets, the Council of Culture of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz yesterday awarded the prizes of the Juvenile Literary Contest 'Albacara'.

The jury decided to award a single prize in the 'Narrative' modality, endowed with an ebook and diploma, for the story 'Sola', which, when the plea was opened, turned out to be the author María García Marín, a 1st year student of the Gines Institute Pérez Chirinos de Caravaca.

Likewise, a prize was awarded for the modality 'Poesía', endowed with tablet and diploma, which fell on the work 'H', which also turned out to be María García Marín.

The jury stated "his surprise and satisfaction at the coincidence of the author who, in this way reaffirms himself as deserved winner of both prizes", as it appears in the minutes of the contest.

Councilor for Culture, Óscar Martínez, expressed his hope that these prizes will grow in the next years, given their trajectory of more than forty years, getting more involved both students and teachers of Language and Literature.

The Municipal Library awarded a diploma and a batch of books to all the participants, in order to encourage them to continue their fondness for literature and to perfect their writing technique.

After the awards ceremony, the writer Ceheginera Mª Ángeles Ibernón presented before the members of the library reading club of the Library and before the audience her poemario 'Siempre es tiempo de cherries'.

The judging panel of the prizes was composed by the Councilor for Culture, Óscar Martínez;

José Ródenas secondary school teacher, librarian and member of the Inmaculada Pérez Association of Parents and Mothers, and municipal librarian José Antonio Martínez, who acted as secretary.

The prior of the Community of Discalced Carmelites of Caravaca, Father Pascual Gil, was the jury president.

The literary competition 'Albacara' was created in 1972, linked in its first stage to the Carmelite parents and the Club Edith Stein and later summoned by the Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca.

This is one of the oldest literary youth events of all those celebrated in Spain and its purpose is to promote the taste for Literature among children and youth and promote new values ​​in this field.
