Nearly 2,000 schoolchildren learn self-protection measures at Caravaca Fire Prevention Week (24/11/2016)

Nearly 2,000 schoolchildren from all schools in Caravaca de la Cruz have participated in the 'Fire Prevention Week', which has promoted prevention and self-protection behaviors in emergency situations.

In addition to the talks and simulacra with the students of the municipality, there have been other initiatives aimed at the sectors of population at risk, such as the elderly.

This activity has been closed in the Gran Vía, with the Prevention Festival, where the students of the different schools have participated in practical workshops, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and a tour of the recreation of a house burned.

The activities have been led by the Firefighters of Caravaca, with the collaboration of volunteers from the local Red Cross and Civil Protection delegations.

The closure has been attended by councilors of Education and Public Safety in the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, Esther Poveda and Pedro Antonio Muñoz, respectively, as well as the manager of the Consortium for Fire Extinguishing and Rescue of the Region of Murcia , Alfonso Ramón García, and the director of Mapfre in Caravaca, Nicolas Navarro.

The 'Fire Prevention Week' is an awareness program promoted by the Professional Association of Fire Technicians (APTB) and the Mapfre Foundation, with the collaboration of emergency services and municipalities in the various cities that are headquartered.

In Caravaca there have been lectures on knowledge about self-protection in schools and also in the Casa de la Cultura 'Emilio Sáez'.

Likewise, fire and evacuation drills have been carried out in the secondary schools of San Juan de la Cruz and Ginés Pérez Chirinos.

Caravaca de la Cruz has been the chosen city in the Region of Murcia for the development of this week of activities.

In addition, this year has been celebrated in other parts of the Spanish geography, such as Ponferrada (León), Santander (Cantabria), Móstoles (Madrid), Linares (Jaén) or Santa Lucia (Gran Canaria).
