Caravaca de la Cruz takes the first steps to become a smart tourist destination, after the meeting that the Council of Tourism, Gloria Gómez, and Culture and New Technologies, Oscar Martinez, maintained a team of professors from the universities of Murcia and Alicante .

The smart approach destinations seeks the gradual transformation of Spanish tourism model, based on the concepts of innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility.
Among the objectives is to adapt the behavior of the economy, which has significantly changed the way we plan and live their holidays, to achieve more efficient management and increased profitability and competitiveness in the sector.
Segittur defines a destination intelligent tourism as an accessible for all, innovative tourist space consolidated on a technological infrastructure forefront ensuring sustainable development of the territory, facilitates interaction and integration of the visitor with the environment and increases the quality of your experience destination and quality of life of residents.
