The plenary will debate a motion to ask the Commonwealth Taibilla supply water to the Estate and the districts (08/07/2016)

Councillor for Agriculture and Environment, Enrique Fuentes, has announced that the socialist government team will take the next Parliament a motion to urge the Commonwealth of Channels Taibilla (MCT) to supplies of potable water to the industrial estate of Cavila and caravaqueñas districts.

Specifically, the motion proposes urge the MCT to take charge of the design, construction, financing and operation of precise work done to carry out the supply of drinking water to the polygon Cavila through an infrastructure that also allows, in the shortest possible time, the supply to the districts of Caravaca.

The text also includes request the regional and central governments to support this proposal.

The proposal is motivated, as explained Fuentes, because "both in the industrial area of Cavila as in several of the districts jeopardized the possibility of industrial development and population growth due to supply problems."

The town of Caravaca, as most of the region of Murcia and 32 municipalities of Alicante and Albacete, has benefited from the infrastructure of the Commonwealth Taibilla Channel.

However as recalled Councilman Enrique Fuentes "the population of the 14 districts of Caravaca historically been omitted from the supply balances thereof, which has forced the City of Caravaca de la Cruz to supply the fourth of its population with groundwater from wells municipally owned ".

In recent decades has greatly increased water consumption in the districts, in part by increasing the number of houses supplied, but also due to industrial development, which is causing the extraction wells exceeded in some cases the volume maximum authorized by the CHS.

The strategic decision to create, in charge of water supply to municipalities and pooled state agencies, the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel has been crucial to the southeast Spanish, which makes possible, over many decades, transport sufficient water flows and high quality to almost every corner of the region, breaking the chains that kept archaic situations in the lives of its inhabitants and gripped its development.
