The City of Caravaca will use more than 1.5 million euros in the rehabilitation of homes and spaces in the historic center (21/11/2019)

The Department of Urban Planning will soon enable a point of public attention, equipped with technical staff, to inform and process the aid, whose call opens at the beginning of the year

The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has received a subsidy of 1,560,000 euros for the rehabilitation of homes and the conditioning of public spaces in the historic center, within the line of “Urban and rural regeneration aid 2019. ARRU”.

The Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jos Francisco Garca, and the General Director of Housing of the Autonomous Community, Jos Francisco Lajara, have reported how these grants will be used, framed in the 2018-2021 Housing Plan '.

Jos Francisco Garca, accompanied by the mayor Mnica Snchez and Jos Antonio Garca, said that “the objective of these grants and other projects in which the Government team is already working is to focus on the historic center, make it more accessible and habitable so that the neighbors choose to stay or start a life in it ”.

“We want the information on these grants, which contribute to maintaining the attractiveness of the villages and to establish population in them, to reach the largest possible number of neighbors and for this from the City Council we will enable a point of information and technical advice, where they will channel all the projects, ”said the mayor of Caracas.

The scope of action reaches 79 streets located in the historic center of the municipality and may cover 60 homes.

The call will be published at the beginning of the year and interested parties may submit their applications within one month.

They will have between 15 and 18 months to execute the works.

The Director General of Housing said that these public aids "will allow the rehabilitation of the historic centers of the towns to fill them with life again," rehabilitating buildings and homes, urbanizing or redeveloping public spaces and rebuilding buildings or homes. "

The director stressed that “with the regeneration of urban planning in a historic center we want to benefit the image of the city, small businesses, tourism, and even the safety of the centers.

It goes much further than simply rehabilitating a home. ”

The grants, financed with funds from both the central and regional government, are divided into three types of actions: 'Conservation of structure, roofs, facades and interiors of single-family homes',' Improving security and accessibility 'and' Energy efficiency actions and sustainability '.

The grants set a maximum of 12,000 euros for each house that is rehabilitated and 30,000 euros for certain cases of reconstruction due to under-housing situation.

The subsidies will not exceed 40 percent of the cost of rehabilitation, being able to reach 75 percent in some cases if it is justified that a person over 65 years of age lives in the house to be rehabilitated or there is a low level of income, disabilities or exclusion situations and special vulnerability.
