Caravaca de la Cruz commemorates next week Santa Cecilia, patron saint of music, with four concerts, master classes and a talk-colloquium, accompanied by ancient instruments, on the music of oral tradition.

The Councilor for Education at the Consistory Caravaqueño, José Fernández Tudela and the professors María Sandoval and Erick Tinoco presented the programming coordinated by the Conservatory of Music 'Leandro Martínez Romero', within the II Cycle of Chamber Music 'Santa Cecilia'.

The activities begin next Monday, November 18, with a piano and flute duo concert, by two experienced and renowned teachers of the Conservatories of Music of Murcia and Cartagena, Marcial Picó and Carlos Vivancos, who will perform works by Franz Schubert , Johann Sebastian Bacho Isaac Albéniz, among other composers.

The concert will begin at 8 pm, in the auditorium 'Manuel Montiel Guirado' of the Conservatory.

The cycle of 'Santa Cecilia' will continue on Tuesday, 19, and Wednesday, 20, with two concerts of the chamber music students of the Conservatory, which will also take place at 20.00, in the auditorium of the Conservatory.

On Thursday, 21, at 6:00 p.m., a talk-colloquium will be held around the music of oral tradition, by Julio Guillén Navarro, who will be accompanied by musicians with ancient instruments.

Julio Guillén is a Doctor of Musicology from the University of Valladolid with the highest qualification (Cum Laude) with the doctoral thesis: "The Brotherhood of Ánimas de Caravaca de la Cruz: music, revival and ethnicity in the Sierra de Segura".

The activity will take place at 6 pm, in the conservatory auditorium.

On Thursday, 21, the cycle of 'Santa Cecilia' will be closed in the Church of the Carmelite Fathers, at 8:00 p.m., with the concert of 'Yeset Quintet', a classical wind formation, which paints the sound of the instruments Woodwind with the sound versatility of the tube.

Its main mission is to make music available to the public through a smaller formation than a symphony orchestra, but offering the listener the same emotions, all the work falling on just five instruments.

This quintet was born from the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia.

In addition to the activities open to the public with free access already mentioned, the students of the conservatory will attend master classes by the professors of the Murcia Conservatory Andrés Pérez Bernabé and Marcial Picó Martínez.
