The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has two local public employment programs underway, with a total budget of 165,000 euros, in which a total of 10 workers participate.

"The objective of these projects is to carry out actions of public interest, which benefit all the neighbors, and which in turn contribute to the promotion of employment and training with the hiring of unemployed people", according to The mayor, José Francisco García, detailed during the visit to the site 'Los Molinos de Papel', where the project 'The water games' is being executed.

The Mayor of Caracas has been accompanied by the Councilors for Employment, Ana Belén Martínez, and Obras, José Antonio Sánchez, as well as by the municipal technical staff responsible for directing the work.

The second phase of the local public employment program in 'Los Molinos de Papel' has worked on the recovery of the mill structures, mainly of the waterfalls and aqueducts, which were in operation from the 16th to the 19th century, also existing in the same site is a structure of a flour mill, dating before the aforementioned period.

The project developed in this field has had a budget of 85,000 euros, of which 60,000 have been subsidized by the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) and the rest is municipal contribution.

"It is therefore about favoring and promoting the social use of a border environment between the city and the garden, turning the ancient mill structures into a space of collective and memory belonging, while deepening their proper conservation until the definitive musealization project can be concluded in successive phases, "according to the municipal archaeologist, Francisco Brotóns.

On the other hand, this week has begun the employment program for the realization of works of accessibility and elimination of architectural barriers in public spaces.

This project has five other workers and a total budget of 80,000 euros, of which 60,000 are contributed by the SEF and 20,000 from the Caravaca City Council.

The work will continue until next March and will focus mainly on the areas in the neighborhoods of El Cejo and Ciudad Jardín.
