The PP of Caravaca joins the petition for the National Government to declare the Region of Murcia catastrophic after torrential rains (19/09/2019)

The spokeswoman for the PP of Caravaca de la Cruz, Ana Belén Martínez, said that "the magnitude of this catastrophe, one of the most serious in the history of the Region of Murcia, demands from the constitutional principle of solidarity, an immediate action of the public powers "

Request the Government of the Nation to activate all legal mechanisms, and especially through the corresponding Royal Decrees-Law, to mitigate in a coordinated and effective manner the situation of catastrophic zone that is lived throughout the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia , especially in the most severely affected municipalities, is the purpose of the motion that has been registered by the Popular Municipal Group for discussion and voting at the next ordinary Plenary.

The Region of Murcia has suffered during these days the consequences of the meteorological phenomenon known as DANA that has affected the entire Region in a very abrupt manner and in which there have been several and continued accidents that have caused emergency or natural situations catastrophic that have substantially altered the living conditions of the population and caused serious material damage, both in private goods and in goods, facilities and public services, as well as in agricultural holdings and in municipal and regional infrastructure.

The spokeswoman for the PP of Caravaca de la Cruz, Ana Belén Martínez, said that "the magnitude of this catastrophe, one of the most serious in the history of the Region of Murcia, demands from the constitutional principle of solidarity, an immediate action of the public powers. "

This action includes, in the first place, as Martínez explained, the adoption of various palliative and reparative measures that contribute to the gradual restoration of normalcy in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia;

secondly, the definition of coordination procedures and collaboration mechanisms between the organs of the General State Administration, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the affected local administrations, which will ensure the prompt execution of said measures, and, finally, the determination of the financing of the expenses derived from such actions.

"The enormous severity of the material damage caused, with the consequent impact on economic activity, makes the approval of exceptional standards essential," he stressed.

Finally, Ana Belén Martínez has stated that "from Caravaca de la Cruz we stand in solidarity and show our support to the neighboring municipalities affected by the cold drop, and we appreciate the voluntary work of those of Local Police, Fire, Civil Protection and health, as well as anonymous people, who have moved and will move in the next few days to the most affected areas to collaborate as much as possible in the cleaning and helping the neighbors. "
