The Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, offered all the details of both actions, the first of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation, of which she is president, aimed at recovering the heritage of Caravaca and its cultural landscape.

In this regard, he stressed that "the last phase of the rehabilitation of the facade of the monastery of Santa Clara has been completed, with the adequacy of a total area of ​​350 square meters."

The counselor said that in the coming days the restoration of the south, east and north low facades of the church of El Salvador, declared of Cultural Interest (BIC), will begin, which will consist of cleaning, consolidation of the stone and protection of the same.

Improvement interventions will also be carried out on cornices, window moldings, inscription tombstones and other figures.

"The works will have a maximum duration of five months and will allow, together with those already completed in Las Claras, to contribute to the consolidation of Caravaca de la Cruz as a reference of cultural and religious tourism with a view to the celebration of the next Jubilee Year of 2024 ", said the head of Tourism in the Autonomous Government.

The Parish Church of El Salvador, well of cultural interest, dates its construction in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, being one of the most impressive and emblematic Renaissance temples of the northwest region and the Region of Murcia.

Over the years, natural and human elements have been deteriorating and wearing away the exterior of this church.
