Gastronomic, recreational and cultural activities wrap up the traditional Fiestas del Carmen this weekend (09/07/2019)

The collection of the missionary market, the tombola and the tapas corner of Cadiz will go to the Casa Hogar of the Ivory Coast, where thirty girls are served and provided with access to education

From Friday to Sunday, there will also be live music with the 'mini concerts', which will open the vocalist Manuel de Segura

Activities for all audiences of a gastronomic, cultural or recreational nature -all of them with a sense of solidarity- surround the traditional Fiestas del Carmen.

The 'Mercadillo Misionero', the 'Corner of tapas' from Cadiz, the 'mini concerts' or the children's games are some of the proposals that can be enjoyed on the Paseo de la Corredera during the next weekend.

The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García Fernández, and the Prior of the Discalced Carmelite Order of Caravaca de la Cruz, Pascual Gil Almela, presented the program and encouraged all caravaqueños and visitors to participate in the programmed activities, with which funds will be raised for the Casa Hogar Betania of the Ivory Coast, where about thirty orphaned girls are served and access to education is facilitated from the first years to the university.

In the presentation held at the Hospedería del Carmen Convent, the Social Services mayor, Isabel López, along with members of the Carmelite community, and the representative of the NGO 'Solmun.

"Joy and generosity go hand in hand at July 12, 13 and 14. At the Glorieta, solidarity enriches each other, both the one who helps and the one who receives it, that is why I want to invite all the people to collaborate and enjoy with all the activities prepared in the Glorieta ", said the mayor, who highlighted the hospitality of the Carmelite community and its active involvement with the local society through numerous solidarity, cultural and tourism initiatives.

For his part, the Carmelite Prior has recounted that the NGO of the Discalced Carmelites 'Solmun', whose headquarters in the Region of Murcia is located in Caravaca de la Cruz, maintains projects in much needed places of the African continent, such as Burkina Faso, Costa of Ivory and Togo.

Along with the religious acts -which will culminate in the afternoon of July 16 with the procession in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen- there will be 'El Chiringuito' Rincón de Cádiz ', with Andalusian and continental tapas;

'La Tómbola Solidaria', with the generous contributions of local businesses and merchants;

'El rake de Artesanía', which will show the African culture;

the 'mini concerts', with the opening of the vocalist Manuel de Segura;

Traditional children's games or a photography exhibition.

All this in order to equip the Casa Hogar Betania of Ivory Coast with instruments and basic equipment.

The Solidarity Festival will begin on Friday, July 12, at 8:00 pm and will continue until Sunday, July 14.

The 'mini concerts' will be held on Friday and Saturday, starting at 8:00 p.m.

On Friday will play, besides Manuel de Segura, the group 'Pulso y Púa by Luis Nogueras' and on Saturday, the Rociero Choir of Caravaca and the singer Isabel Torrecilla.

On the other hand, some thirty young people will participate from Thursday until the 17th in the 'CampaCarmen', an activity in which boys and girls from Burriana, Castellón, Valencia and Caravaca meet.

The Jorge Bera sports hall will host them and they will make several excursions to places in the municipality.
