The 'TIC Festival' and a bus for events between districts and the urban area, proposals chosen in the participatory budgets applied to the Youth area (26/03/2019)

The young people decided between 29 options to which projects a municipal budget of 15,000 euros is destined

The 'TIC festival', a musical event that has been taking place since 2017 after the first participatory budgets, to which 10,000 euros of the available budget will be allocated for its realization, is repeated as the winning proposal in the second edition of the participatory budgets applied to the Youth area.

The second proposal that has obtained the greatest support from the students of the Secondary schools, and for which 6,000 euros will be allocated, is that of a bus line between the districts and the urban area for days marked with events of interest ( of a cultural or leisure type) and / or for festive seasons.

This service will have a limit of 20 trips to distribute throughout the year.

Both proposals add up to a total of 16,000 euros, the City Council committing, in this way, to increase this amount by 1,000 euros so that the proposals can be executed.

A total of 602 students of 3rd and 4th ESO, Baccalaureate and formative cycles of the centers 'Oróspeda', 'Ginés Pérez Chirinos', 'Our Lady of Consolation' and 'San Juan de la Cruz' participated in the voting, which translates into 95.71% of the total number of dynamic students in the information sessions of the first phase of the process (in which they were exposed concepts of participatory budget and municipal budget, and work was done on the proposals that were finally presented).

As indicated by the research group of the University of Murcia, together with the City of Caravaca, coordinates the process, these data represent an increase in participation compared to the 2017 edition, in which they voted 79.67% of the total of dynamised students.

This edition of the participatory budgets will end with the 'Day of citizen participation', where you can know the most relevant data of the whole process, as well as the justifications of those proposals that did not pass the technical evaluation phase and could not, therefore , go to a vote.

The participatory budgeting process applied to the Youth area has been designed and coordinated by a research group of the University of Murcia.

The City of Caravaca de la Cruz pursues several objectives such as knowing and prioritizing the needs of young people to contribute to a more effective use of public resources for this group and encourage their active participation in decision-making processes.
