The first edition of the 'CaniRun Caravaca', a sports event in which the participants run the race with their dogs, will be held on February 24th.

It is an initiative that is promoted by the Cultural Association 'Kábila Alhakem' and that has the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the Caravaqueńo Consistory.

The first 'CaniRun Caravaca' groups three categories of participation: 'Absolute', for over 15 years, with a distance of 3.5 kilometers;

'Senior', for children and young people between the ages of 9 and 14, with a distance of 1.2 kilometers;

and 'Junior', for children from 4 to 8 years old with a circuit of 500 meters.

Both the exit and the finish line will be located in the area of ​​the Camino del Huerto, specifically, in Alhakem Street, which is next to the avenue.

The test has a beneficial component, as the 'Dorsal 0' and 10% of each registration will go to the voluntary association and animal protection 'Econciencia'.

The mayor of Sports wanted to encourage children and adults to be part of this activity, with their pets, and "spend a fun day, combining sports, respect for animals and nature." For his part, the president of the kábila ' Alhakem ', José Ángel Sánchez, highlighted the popular character of the race, adapted to all ages, while explaining that it is a type of test that has a lot of acceptance in municipalities of other provinces: "We wanted to introduce this novelty to complete , with a different proposal and open to all audiences, local calendar of sports races, "he said.
