The Adenow Sports Association of Caravaca de la Cruz has organized, together with the Federation of Speleology of the Region of Murcia, a project for the recovery and conservation of the natural heritage of northwest Murcia.
The project, based on the cleanliness of the twenty most well-known cavities of the territory, has the objective of restoring these spaces of great ecological value by extracting all the waste accumulated in them over time, thrown mostly from the Exterior.
The cleaning days, which also aims to raise awareness of the risks of degradation of the underground environment, will be developed until June 2019 acting in a total of 8 caves and 12 chasms of different levels of difficulty.
All scheduled activities will require the participation of volunteer cavers with federal insurance in force, and will begin next Saturday, December 15, with visits to the Cueva de la Barquilla and Sima del Buitre, both located in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz.
This project has been managed by the Integral Local Action Group, framed in the LEADER community initiatives of the Rural Development Program of the Region of Murcia.
The total cost of the same amounts to 5,576.19 euros, from 90% of the FEADER Fund (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
