APCOM performs the play 'Masters of tenderness', starring the association's own users (28/11/2018)

Next week will be staged again for the students of the Primary and Secondary schools of Caravaca

The Association of Families with Intellectual Disability of the Northwest APCOM, with the collaboration of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, premieres a play starring the users of the association, members of the artistic group 'Express'art'.

The work, written and directed by Fernando Ripoll, is entitled 'Masters of Tenderness' and has awakened great expectations, since the tickets for its release are already sold out.

The premiere will take place this Sunday, December 2, at 7:00 pm, at the Thuillier Theater.

The 4th and 5th of December will be represented again for the students of the Primary and Secondary schools of Caravaca de la Cruz.

The objective of this work is to give visibility to the world that surrounds people with intellectual disabilities (family, professionals, volunteers, etc.).

Through an entertaining and cultural initiative, the viewer is expected to broaden his vision of this group, combating clichés and social stereotypes.

At the same time, APCOM users become protagonists of a theatrical performance, showing their own history, giving an injection of self-esteem and value to their lives.

APCOM is an association of families of people with intellectual disabilities.

It was created in the mid-eighties, in order to promote services that give continuity to the training of people with intellectual disabilities in the vacuum that existed after the school stage.

It began to function as an occupational center, to later incorporate new services.

Currently, the APCOM association owns two day centers (Occupational Day Center "Mayrena" and Day and Residence Center "El Copo"), a Center for Child Development, Early Care and Educational Support "Avanza", a Housing Service: Residence "Nova" and Sheltered Housing;

and a Special Employment Center "Ecojardín".

Serving, in total, more than 200 people and their respective families.

The APCOM Association belongs to Plena Inclusión, which is the Federation of Organizations in favor of Persons with Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy of the Region of Murcia.
