This year the theme of the 'World First Aid Day' focuses on motor vehicle accidents, the main avoidable cause of death, which claims around 1.5 million lives a year.
According to the World Health Organization, unless first aid is provided on time, most people with serious injuries do not survive a traffic accident.
The application of first aid techniques, in particular, the correct positioning of the victim before the arrival of emergency response teams, can mean the difference between life and death.
From the Red Cross they emphasize that first aid techniques must be accessible to all as a fundamental act of humanity that allows people to save lives and help recover from a sudden illness or injury.
Having knowledge in this area improves the ability of an individual to make quick decisions, reduce or stabilize serious injuries and improve the chances of survival in the face of an accident.
World First Aid Day (DMPA) is an opportunity to promote and defend knowledge and first aid skills for the general public.
The DMPA also recognizes the important role that the Red Cross and Red Crescent and other organizations have in providing quality first aid training throughout the world as a way to build peoples' capacity to respond to emergency situations. or disease.
