In a meeting held recently between representatives of Te Ayuda, association of parents of children with autism spectrum disorder of the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz and the General Directorate of Vocational Training and Special Education with its director general Sergio López Barrancos at the head , the need was raised to make known the common characteristics that these students usually present so that certain attitudes in the classroom do not become misunderstood as lack of behavior or abilities.
The association helps you stressed the need to work three aspects that are the reduction of the ratio in the groups where students are TEA, individualized work plans with a reference tutor and use of information technology and communication as educational resource given their good visual abilities.
More specifically for Vocational Training the need for a reference adult tutor was presented in areas that are new to the student, such as the beginning of Workplace Training.
But in the meeting not only there were requests, since the association also offered the collaboration of the great connoisseurs of this group, their parents.
These family members could advise teachers on guidelines to follow and provide support when necessary.
The meeting recorded the difficulties that TEA students present and the need to know this disability in order to address it.
The collaboration of family members of these students along with the provision of the Ministry of Education to collect these initiatives will make it possible to understand and train the student with autism spectrum disorder.
