A modification of the PGMO allows the survival of livestock farms located in the high districts of Caravaca (10/07/2018)

Political groups supported the Citizens motion with measures to address the problem of depopulation of rural areas

The Plenary Session of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has approved a specific modification of the General Plan of Urban Planning (PGMO) so that agricultural farms located in the high districts of the municipality can make improvements in their facilities.

The affected area corresponds to about 11 thousand hectares, within area P41, of the farms of La Junquera, Aguazaderas, Casa Blanca and Tornajuelo, among others, located in the districts of Los Royos, El Moral and El Moralejo.

The councilor responsible for the areas of Urbanism, Agriculture and Environment, Enrique Fuentes, explained that "a dysfunction of the General Plan has been corrected, which after its last revision prevented reforms in any type of construction, which was an obstacle to survival of the agrarian sector and a limitation for the economic development of this extensive rural area of the municipality ".

Once this modification of the PGMO has been approved, the seven licensed livestock farms that are located in this area of the municipality may carry out the necessary extensions, as long as they comply with municipal and regional regulations, thus eliminating the tort comparative that existed to date with the rest of rural areas of the municipality.

The point related to this modification of the General Plan went ahead with the favorable votes of all the groups, with the exception of Izquierda Unida, which abstained.

Also related to the future of the rural environment, the motion was approved unanimously by the Municipal Citizens Group regarding the problem of depopulation in the Spanish interior and, in particular, in the Region of Murcia and in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz.

The motion consists of a battery of 47 measures, which will be transferred to the Regional Assembly and the Government of Spain to jointly and coordinately fight from all administrations against the demographic change that threatens the present and the future of rural populations.

Another of the points addressed in the regular plenary session in July was the initial approval of the modification of the Municipal Traffic, Traffic and Road Safety Ordinance to regulate the circulation of Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP) and specifically those of type B, similar to mopeds and motorcycles, since there is a gap in current state legislation.

In this sense, the councilor for Citizen Security, Traffic and Emergencies, Pedro Antonio Muñoz, reported that it is a pioneer ordinance in the Region, which ensures road safety, as these electric vehicles could only circulate on sidewalks and pedestrian areas , with the danger that this entails due to its size and speed.

The motion presented by the Popular Municipal Group to renew the Youth Leisure Plan, adapting it to all age ranges and demands of this population group, was approved by the favorable votes of the PP, IU and Citizens and the abstention of the PSOE .

In the Plenary, the Municipal Inventory of Assets was also rectified, including the dimensions and real description of the Town Hall, since there was something more than one hundred square meters without reflecting, to proceed later to its writing.

Also, in the session the communiqué was given by which the Municipal Group of the United Left appoints as new spokesperson Cristian Castillo Bernal and modifies the adscriptions of the councilors to the informative commissions, among other points.
