The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has launched a service of communicative mediator aimed at the group of deaf people, which will be free and will have its headquarters in the premises of the Youth Center.
This new service has been presented by the Councilor for Social Services, María José Soria, accompanied by the president of the Association of Deaf People of Caravaca (ASSORM), Ángel García, and the coordinator of the association 'Adinor', Javier Sandoval.
The 'SorMe' Program is a project promoted by the Department of Social Services, managed by the Cultural Association 'Adinor', which aims to eliminate the main communication barriers that face deaf people.
For this, a communicative mediator will help them to efficiently develop their daily tasks.
"The figure of the communicative mediator supposes a basic support for the deaf, deafblind and hearing impaired people, with which access to resources and services is facilitated, seeking the social integration of this group as full citizens", as highlighted by the councilor responsible for the area of ​​Social Services, Maria Jose Soria, who has indicated that with the implementation of this service materializes the demand that the Association of the Deaf transferred to the Consistory.
The 'SorMe' program will also have different communication channels through which this group will be informed periodically of news and events that take place in the locality.
One of them will be the WhatsApp line (688 477 51 84).
The communicative mediator will provide its services in the morning, from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm, and will travel at the request of the user to those places in the municipality where it is necessary to carry out the procedures, whether public centers (City Hall, Social Security, educational centers, etc.) ), local establishments (shops, banks, etc.) and other collectives (associations, neighborhood associations, etc.).
The 'SorMe' program also includes the interpretation in sign language of some of the public events that are held in Caravaca de la Cruz, such as talks or conferences and, in general, those that are requested by the users themselves.
