The City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its councils of Social Services and Youth, and the Association of Families of Persons with Intellectual Disability of the Northwest (APCOM) open the registration period in the II Field of Experiences 'We listen to your eyes' , which will run from July 16 to July 21 with the aim of promoting volunteerism and promoting the social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.

"It is a formative and experiential proposal, which allows us to know the work performed by the professionals of the Day and Residence Center of Large Dependents 'El Copo' and to approach the reality, values and needs of the group of people with disabilities", such and as pointed out by the Councilor for Social Services, María José Soria, who has presented this initiative accompanied by the president and the director of APCOM, Antonio Castillo and José María Rodríguez, respectively.

The Field of Experiences 'We Hear Your Look' was held for the first time last summer to make visible the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and break with the stereotypes that part of the population has of them.

As explained by councilwoman María José Soria, "this initiative was very rewarding for both the volunteers and the users of APCOM, since during that week they were demonstrating all their skills and interacting with other people who are not part of their day to day "

"We try to unify the social aspect and the formation, with an experience that enriches personally, but that can also be useful for the professional future of young people, believing from the deepest that any change in our society begins with an education based on inclusion and respect for the other, "said Antonio Castillo.

For his part, José María Rodríguez has detailed that the activities offered to 15 young people who can participate in the field are framed in an innovative training model, as they combine daily experiences with the knowledge imparted by those responsible for the project , highly qualified and with extensive experience in the world of disability and social.

Throughout the week that this field of experiences will last, volunteers will participate in the development of activities aimed at users, such as the sessions and workshops of 'Relaxation', 'Aromatherapy', 'Stimulation', 'Multisensory therapy' , 'Social Skills' and 'Cognitive Stimulation', among others.
